CLANCY AND CITS HOLDS SUCCESSFUL POLICE TRAINING DAY EVENT
On July 29th, Clancy and the Construction Industry Theft Solutions (CITS) had 58 police officers from six police forces attend a full day's training into Plant and Agricultural machinery theft, held at Clancy’s offices in Harefield, West London. The event involved various presentations and investigative machinery identification examinations in the afternoon.
Kevin Clancy, Clancy’s Managing Director and Ian Elliott, Clancy’s Head of Security welcomed the attendees to the event. There were presentations by DC Chris Piggott of NaVCIS, who outlined current theft threats and giving practical tips on identifying stolen plant and Seumas Ascott, Head of Security at Murphy’s who gave a presentation on the risks associated with Survey Equipment on site and how stolen equipment can be identified.
Nick Mayell of CESAR gave practical advice for targeting suspected stolen plant on the road.
The feedback from the day has been excellent. One of the officers who attended stated ‘it was the best training day he had ever attended.’
We are pleased to report that the following day, one of the officers who was present at the event used the knowledge he had learnt and identified and recovered a stolen dumper worth £25,000.
CITS intend to continue with similar events across the Country. The next at the agricultural machinery dealers Ben Burgess, in Northampton in October for officers from the Midlands and East Anglia areas. Other events are being planned in the future for other regions. Details of these events will be posted on the CITS website.
CITS encourage businesses to join the Police / Industry Partnership by becoming members of the CITS forum.
